STOP CHILD ABUSE…NOW!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Do I need to say more?
Unfortunately I do….
Over 3 million reports of child abuse are made each year.
A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds.
Almost 5 children die every single day as a result of child abuse.
Please, don’t turn your heads and say “it doesn’t happen where I live”…. Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions and at all levels of education. It does not discriminate.
If you see it, report it. If you hear it, report it. Don’t turn your head. A child’s life is a stake.
- 31% of women in prison in the United States were abused as children.
- 14% of men in prison in the United States were abused as children.
- Over 60% of people in drug rehabilitation centers report being abused or neglected as a child.
- About 80% of 21 year olds that were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder.
- The estimated annual cost of child abuse and neglect in the United States for 2007 is $104 billion.
- Abused children are 25% more likely to experience teen pregnancy.
- Abused teens are 3 times less likely to practice safe sex, putting them at greater risk for STDs.
- Children who experience child abuse & neglect are 59% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile, 28% more likely to be arrested as an adult, and 30% more likely to commit violent crime.
=============================================================================
My god, how can you hurt a child?
If you don’t think child abuse effects children, please read my blog. Read every freaking word, I have written these past months…
…Recognize that I hang-on by a thread, every day of my life. Know that I just got released from the hospital because I stood on a bridge wanting to die, again. Know that I hate everything about me. Know that I don’t care if tomorrow never comes. Know that I look at physical scars and remember what happened every day. Know that my heart bleeds in excruciating pain and it won’t stop…..it doesn’t stop.
Please know that every hit, every slap, every punch, every rape, every touch, every burn, leaves a scar ~it may not be physical but it leaves emotions that never go away.
THINK before you act. Children don’t deserve it.

Hi
I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor. I made a video using one of your photos from your web site. I am hoping to share my video with my community. I am writing to ask permission to use your photo.
You can view the video at
Your photo helped me to share my feelings about abuse with my family. Now I am hoping that I can share my video with my community in a local film festival. If you would like me to remove your photo, please just let me know and if I can use your photo, thank you.

Hi. I am a sixteen year old girl that has been abused. You’re story not only helped but inspired me. I am currently working on a foundation that will raise awareness, education and support to stop child abuse and help the ones who have suffered. I wanted to use your signs of abuse photo for my campaign. Please let me know, and thank you
