I will have a frosty for sure. Also, I hope to start a blog if there is enough interest. The first posting, provided there is interest (PLEASE LET ME KNOW, LT, would you read it? You are already helping) is here:

    ——————-

As you may or may not know, we’re adopting a teen out of foter care. While LT may not let us help her. wife and I are going to attempt to help someone else.

Just got done with our first interview with our home study person at CSD. Here’s how it started:

ME We’re not interested in being a foster family. We want to get certified for fostering AND adoption to keep all options open, but we have no desire to foster.

CSD: Ok, well, the opportunities to get an infant through CSD are scarce. We re…….

ME: Oh, we don’t want an infant, or even a toddler.

CSD (face in disbelief): What ages are you looking at?

ME: Oh, anywhere from 8 years old all the way up to 21

CSD (still with a look of surreal disbelief): Umm, well, we have plenty of them. Have you looked at our website? It may not be up to date, but believe me, umm, gosh, our caseworkers just aren’t used to people wanting to adopt teens. It’s challenging

ME: Well, the assumption is that the teens with their issues will be much more difficult than the foster kids of a younger age. Truth is, from my research (including many of LT’s posts) the foster child that’s been traumatized, sexually abused, etc; will eventually have to face those issues so the assumption you are getting off easy by adopting younger is a misconception. Besides, many of these kids that age out end up on the street, prostitution, or even DEAD! That’s where the need is, that’s what we wanna do.

CSD: Still, it hurts that you couldn’t have a kid of your own

ME: We never really tried. We always wanted to adopt, and never wanted an infant. (that’s the truth, we never had a desire to have our own child. Not with kids in foster care, it seemed selfish for us to do such a thing.)

    ———————————–

We went on for another 90 minutes, the CSD rep still in disbelief. We did that yesterday, and our classes start this evening at 6PM.

    WISH US LUCK!!!

Holy cow, that video is awesome! It should be a TV commercial so people see it. I love Wendy’s, especially the fries. I may actually have one of each kind of frosty over the two day weekend. :)
    Good excuse!

I saw a commercial last night for it. After I thought they should do more than fifty cents, and have certain hours in the day when the entire price goes to help. ;)
